Ovi Maps now comes with Qype

Ovi Maps Technology seems to keep people busy at all times, though the developers over at Nokia seem to have a solution that lets users make the most of their time. Ovi Maps from Nokia has declared a partnership with Qype that will render community based recommendations on places of interest to Nokia handset users.

Ovi Maps now encompasses Qype, an expansive Europe-specific portal for local community based reviews from travelers and locals. Information is currently offered on over 20,000 cities including cafes, spas, hotels, shops and even traffic information. This means that Nokia smartphone users now have access to over 25 million points of interest while on holiday.

Trips may be customized and planned with map data courtesy of Navteq as well as city guides from Lonely Planet, Michelin and Wcities. Agreements with companies like telegate, Yellow Pages, Yell Publicidad-Paginas Amarillas and hotel booking services such as HRS and Expedia add to the Ovi experience.

Ovi maps can be used in offline mode and routes planned on a PC or laptop can be uploaded onto a Nokia device. The newest version of Ovi Maps 3.04 is available as a free download from Nokia’s official website. If that wasn’t enough, Nokia has also started shipping car kits with their new smartphones in-the-box.
