Users seeking for a sleek and attractive touchscreen smartphone will be glad to read this news. NII Holdings and Motorola have just annunciated that Nextel Argentina, Nextel Brazil and Nextel Mexico will offer the Motorola i1 to Latin America with Nextel’s Push-to-Talk service. The phone claims to be the first push-to-talk Android powered smartphone in Latin America.

The phone will enable users to experience Android, based on an internet ecosystem which will help to recall the last 6 applications used with a touch of button. Users will benefit from DirectConnect by being able to access many apps and widgets from the Android Market store and other popular Google solutions like search of email.

“This device is a first in a series of exciting new handsets that will be added to our product portfolio in 2010,” shared Greg Santoro, chief marketing and strategy officer for NII Holdings. “For the past few years, we have been surpassing the expectations of our subscribers with cutting-edge devices, and we are excited to continue to do so with the launch of the Motorola i1. If you are energetic, creative, fascinated with innovation and gadgets and need to be connected, this is your ideal device.”

The Motorola i1 comes preloaded with 3.1-inch HVGA screen, a Facebook app and Wi-Fi for delivering improved browsing and sharing. The phone sports a 5 megapixel camera with geo-tagging and panoramic capabilities, allowing users to capture those precious moments on a clear and crisp display.

“Motorola remains focused on delivering differentiated Android experiences within our product portfolio. With i1, we’re excited to offer push-to-talk users the opportunity to enjoy a feature rich smartphone with 5 megapixel camera as well as Wi-Fi, whether it’s for work or play,” remarked Mark Shockley, senior vice president of the Global Go-to-Market organization for Mobile Devices.

For non-stop entertainment, the phone is equipped with MP3 player, video recording, and expandable memory up to 8GB. It also includes a free Nextel Multimedia suite to transfer content and manage it on a computer. Users will be able to message much faster with Android standard virtual keyboard using flexible tools for message entry and Swype that allows users to enter text with a continuous finger motion across the keypad.

The i1 features the latest Opera Mini 5 browser that enables quick browsing and features a customized ‘Speed Dial’ for easy access to websites. This phone can be continuously customized with thousands of apps in the Android Market. Nextel Live is a widget on the phone’s main screen that provides updated news, sports, politics and lifestyle information.

Additionally, the sleek phone consists of practical applications such as iAlarm that enables calling a previously saved contact at the time of emergency by holding the button for 5 seconds, TeleNav for turn-by-turn navigation calculator, calendar, alarm clock, gestures, weather widget and games such as Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09, MONOPOLY HERE & NOW, Prince Of Persia and Block Breaker Deluxe 2 with the accelerometer to make the gaming experience much more lively.

As of now, the pricing and availability of the Motorola i1 are little hazy.
