The OnePlus 2 seems to be well on its way to fulfill its destiny as a 2016 flagship killer, with over 1 million people around the world registering for the device in the 72 hours since it was made available. There’s no telling how many of those folks will receive an invite to buy the phone though, since signing up for the reservation list is not a guarantee for getting the device.
The milestone is a huge number for the relatively new Chinese brand, which was launched back in 2013. To put the figure in perspective, the handset’s predecessor has sold over 1.5 million units to date. The manufacturer plans to sell a million units of the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus One by the end of the year in India, with the latter set to get a further price cut soon for both its 64GB and 16GB models.
This comes from a Business Today interview with Vikas Agarwal, General Manager of OnePlus India. He went on to say the company had worked extensively with Qualcomm to ensure the Snapdragon 810 processor in the OnePlus 2 doesn’t suffer from heating issues. He claimed the phone’s ROM has been optimized to work with the chipset, with added stabilization from the brand’s own Oxygen OS.
