Notion Ink is all geared up to introduce its Adam II in India, and the company will apparently be selling this new tablet in the country at a price of Rs. 12,000. This Android Jelly Bean-based device will act as a successor to its not-so-well-received predecessor which was launched back in 2011. Along with the OS, its components too receive a big overhaul as compared to those that the original machine was seen sporting.
The Adam II was spoken of during the National Technology Day Awards 2013 event held in New Delhi recently. According to Engadget, a pamphlet was reportedly passed around at this occasion, quoting the slab’s retail value. No mention was made about its release date; however, it can be expected to arrive later this year. Its core specifications have also come to the fore through the event.
While the tablet will be carrying on it a 10.1-inch IPS display bearing a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, it will also embrace a small secondary screen. This latter addition will be aimed at providing users with the ability to view their notifications without even unlocking the device. Interestingly, Android’s Jelly Bean v4.2.2 will be making its way into the slate, giving it a definite edge above many other players in the market.
A 1.5GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor will be powering the tablet’s operations, and it will be provided assistance in this process by 1GB worth of DDR3 RAM. Its front as well as rear cameras feature 2MP lenses, making them both capable of HD photography. Internal memory details remain unknown, but the presence of a microSD card slot, expandable up to 32GB, has been revealed.
A high-power 6,000mAh battery also finds its way into the device, apparently rendering 10 hours worth of playback. Moreover, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/, a 1.4b HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microUSB 2.0 port are also included in its offerings, apart from a SIM card slot.
The Notion Ink Adam II as well as its price are still to be revealed officially by its makers in India, but the tablet’s website is currently in rebuilding mode, so we can expect that to happen soon.
