Nokia Normandy ‘Android’ smartphone’s press shot pops up online

Nokia is apparently doing what no one expected it to, even in their wildest dreams, that is, prepping up an Android device that goes by the name of Normandy. The latter part of the codename says quite a lot about the choice of the platform, but of course, nothing has been revealed about it by any of the parties involved.

While all these conjectures were busy doing the rounds of the web, @evleaks went about and leaked a press shot of the Nokia gadget. This is not the first time when the Twitter account has revealed the device in its full glory. Exactly a month ago, the red-colored phone’s picture was tweeted and the new snapshot discloses that it will be introduced in more than a single shade, if at all it is introduced.

This hardly comes as a surprise, considering that all Nokia phones come drenched in multiple shades. As and when it releases, you will be able to choose between hues of black, white, cyan, red, green and yellow. Back when the device was leaked for the first time, it was believed to be an Asha gadget wrapped in a Lumia-specific garb.

However, we heard stories sometime later that the Normandy is actually an Android device. How Nokia managed to get into collaboration with Google, remains to be a secret. But that’s not quite all. Microsoft may have intervened as recently, the Finnish smartphone maker said that it will be concentrating on wearable devices. It was believed that the company has dropped its plans of launching an Android gadget.

Whether the Nokia Normandy is still on the cards or not, we have no idea. We can only hope that Nokia and Microsoft have indeed changed their minds once again and decided to release the Android phone after all.
