Amar Chitra Katha app launched for Windows 8 at Comic Con Mumbai

Comic Con held in Mumbai witnessed the launch of the official Amar Chitra Katha application for Windows 8-based notebooks and tablets. This should definitely bring back fond memories of reading the comic books as a child. ACK Comics also happens to be the first ever official application from this company.

It has been developed by Ninestars’ App9 Digital Studio and is currently available for gadgets that make the most of the Windows 8 OS. The new titles have obviously been included in the utility, but you will appreciate the fact that the company has also added the old comics to the digital archives. Subscribers can browse through the store, buy graphic novels, download them or even read them on the app itself.

ACK Comics App

As Vineet Durani, Director – Windows Phone Business Group, Microsoft India points out, Amar Chitra Katha comics are Indian childhood staples and thus most people in the country would be delighted to have an application for them. You will find Indian epics, history, literature, oral folklores or mythological stories in these comics.

Over 400 comics have been produced by the popular company to date in over 20 languages and they have managed to sell close to 90 million copies. The application will remain exclusive to Windows 8 for a month, which means users can expect it to be released on other platforms pretty soon. Popular comics like Shakuntala, Birbal the Wise, Tirupati, Tenzing Norgay, Anant Pai and a few others can be downloaded for free to be read in various formats.

The ACK Comics app is available now free of charge for Windows 8 users through the official store.
