Nokia and Vodafone offer a new mobile internet initiative in India

Nokia Vodafone N97Nokia and Vodafone Essar have collaborated to offer Indian customers a smooth and speedy internet experience on their handsets. This initiative will starts off with the highly exciting Nokia N97 devices. Users will obtain loads of information by accessing the internet with efficient while traveling.

They will connect, create, discover and share content and applications in a better way. Customers will enjoy browsing the internet 24×7 on the N97 phone they will obtain an exclusive free data plan for three months. It will provide high speed internet at 2.75G speed and Edge networks. A-GPS sensors and an electronic compass incorporated the phone intuitively identify the location. Users can update their profile, share social location with information, images and videos through the social networking sites.

It is the first phone to be loaded with the Ovi Store. This store offers a collection of applications, games, videos and podcats. It also includes productivity tools, web with location based services and more. It provides paid and free content from a series of global and local content providers and developers. Facebook, Paramount Pictures and Twitter applications are the inclusive content developers and providers. Indian customers in particular will get an option of 50 free to download items by Indian developers under the aegis of Forum Nokia.

Preferred content, people and media can feature on the home screen of the device by simply touching it. The phone consists of a titling, large touch 3.5” 16:9 widescreen display with a QWERTY keyboard. It incorporates 10 international and 5 local widgets and applications preloaded on the handset. Apart from email, shopping and weather information, users can watch news services like NDTV and Reuters. They can browse the web, streaming Flash videos and playing games. Efficient Blogging, chatting, posting, sending texts and emailing is ensured through user interface with physical QWERTY and virtual touch input. Images can be shared, geo-tagged to specific locations and uploaded online through Ovi Share, Twitter, Flickr or Facebook.

The handset provides up to 48GB of storage, an expandable memory of 32GB is inclusive. It also offers a 16 GB microSD card for music, media and more. The phone incorporates music capabilities, full support for the Nokia Music Store and continuous playback time of up to 1.5 days. It offers a unique feature the Groove to provide live updates on movies, dinning out, shopping, clubbing, cultural events and sports as well. Along with sharing content with others users can get live information on their desired topics via a single touch on the home screens.

It has a high quality Carl Zeiss optics, 16:5 5 megapixel camera. It also offers DVD quality video capture and the handset is compatible with Share on Ovi. This service is used for immediate sharing through HSDPA and WLAN.

This service is expected to be available in India by next week through all Vodafone Stores offering Nokia phones. It will be offered on all Nokia outlets and multi brand outlets across cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkatta, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.
