Nokia 515 restores hope for feature phone sector

In the midst of the booming smartphone market, the Nokia 515 has risen to draw buyers’ interest back towards the nearly forgotten feature phone sector. While most manufacturers have begun focusing majorly on Android-driven handsets, we believe it’s commendable that Nokia pays a fair share of attention to feature phones in spite of having the Lumia and Asha series to add to its credit.

The device may change people’s perception about feature phones, as the company begins with highlighting its design. Sculpted from aluminum, the Nokia 515 happens to be 11mm thick and features a film of Gorilla Glass 2 to prevent the daily bumps and bruises. It sports a 2.4-inch LCD Transmissive screen on the upper half of the front panel, with an alphanumeric keypad dominates the bottom half.

One of the device’s high point could be the 5MP onboard camera that it drives in. Not only does the snapper rest beside an LED flash, it also comes with multiple attributes such as Panorama and Sequential shots. There’s no webcam lodged into the handset, but that will definitely not stop users from indulging into a session of personal photo shoot, thanks to an inbuilt voice prompt for guidance.

As per the company’s claims, the incorporated 1,200mAh battery is capable enough to grant up to 38 days of standby on the single SIM variant. Talk time on the other hand, will amount to 10.4 hours for 2G users and 5.3 hours for those on 3G. Details pertaining to the internal memory haven’t been revealed, but the overall hoarding space can be bumped up to 32GB.

Black And White Variants

Come September and the 515 handset will be on its way out to various markets across the globe, beginning with Russia. It has been pegged at a price of $149 or €115, exclusive of taxes.
