myPlex Cloud Service

Plex has developed its own cloud service which it calls the myPlex platform that’s built around three ideas – an easy way to access media remotely, a universal media queue and the ability to conveniently share content with friends and family.

According to the company, this utility is meant to do more than just ease the process of media and content streaming for users. Accessing remote data is enabled by the means of a Plex account. After the creation of an account for which a forums account would also do, users are supposed to sign on their Plex Media Server and Plex client which can be one for Android, iOS or any other device. The company promises a seamless experience even if the users has a hand on several Plex Media Servers in multiple locations and on different mobile devices.

The universal media queue feature is enabled only for videos at present. But it is soon expected to roll out for other data as well. With this, users can bookmark videos from the internet as per their preference and view it any other point of time. It even allows consumers to view videos from all over the web directly on their television screens. For easy integration with all sorts of third party software, the company has thrown up an API for this service. Bringing in the social aspect, users are allowed to share content with friends and others via the myPlex website. Also, with zero additional configuration, all clients can browse and play their shared media.

All the aforesaid features in myPlex are obviously heading towards improvements to the clients. So those who’re waiting for updates on the mobile and desktop clients may not have to wait too long.
