Microsoft Surface Pro price slashed by $100

The Microsoft Surface Pro Windows tablet went up for sale only earlier this year and the device’s price has already been slashed by $100. Microsoft has revealed that the Windows 8-enabled gadget will be available for the reduced amount only till August 29 and the offer is valid on both 64GB and 128GB versions of the slab. Only recently, the Surface RT had gone cheaper by $150 in the US as well.

Apart from the US, the Microsoft Surface Pro is selling for a discounted amount in some other countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Canada. The company itself confirmed this bit of news to the guys over at The Verge. Another reason for this development could be the conglomerate’s plans of introducing the successors of the first generation tablets.

It is being speculated that the Surface Pro slate’s refreshed version loaded with the fourth generation Intel Haswell processor is likely to hit store shelves very soon. Another Surface device integrated with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset also seems to be in the works along with some new accessories such as a battery-equipped keyboard cover and more.

Here are the specifications of the slate in question for those of you who want to take advantage of this offer. Based on Windows 8 Pro, the device featuring a 10.6-inch ClearType HD touchscreen has dual cameras and gains steam from third generation Intel Core processors. It sports a microSD card for increasing the memory by up to 32GB and boasts of common features like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as well.

The 64GB and 128GB versions of the Surface Pro are now available for a price of $799 and $899, respectively.
