The newly unveiled Matsunichi MarquisPad MP977 tablet should make for a decent deal according to most enthusiasts, given its price tag and nifty specs sheet. This tablet is touted to be the redesigned version of the Le Pan series that was unleashed during the CES 2012.

The slate has donned the refreshed look specifically for potential users in the US. Running through its precise specifications, the device sports a 9.7-inch multi-touch display that offers visuals in 1024 x 768p resolutions, on the front panel. As compared to the Le Pan II, this fresh entrant operates on a relatively fast dual core TI processor ticking away at a speed of 1.2GHz. It serves a delicious scoop of ICS right out of the box and carries 1GB DDR2 memory.

Built around dimensions measuring 9.5mm x 7.5mm x 0.49mm and tipping the scales at just 1.6 grams, the device should fit into the category of light and sleek slates. For video conferencing purposes, there’s a front-facing VGA snapper. It lands with 2GB internal memory, and a 2GB built-in microSD card as well as a port for the same for up to 32GB capacity.

Hidden under its chassis is a 3.7V 4000mAh lithium-ion battery that is expected to stay alive for not more than 5 hours before needing a recharge. Available in color choices of bronze, black and silver, this ICS tablet’s additional attributes include a stereo headphone jack, a 30-pin connector port and an integrated microphone and speaker. In terms of web connectivity, the slate offers 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

As mentioned on Engadget, the slab’s modest price tag and May availability may put it on par with the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. The Matsunichi MarquisPad MP977 price is marked at $249 and it is expected to reach the US this month.
