LG L90 Dual: Review of the very best and worst mid-range features it flaunts

The LG L90 Dual has some of the best and worst features a mid-range smartphone of its ilk can have and here’s a brief review of them. There may some places where L90 Dual is the most exciting name you could think of for a phone, but where we come from, it has to sound as cool as Moto G or Galaxy Grand 2.

With the two devices we’ve mentioned last, you have a name you can remember on one hand and a name you can’t forget because of brand popularity, on the other. LG makes some pretty decent smartphones, no doubt about that. But it really needs to find more catchy monikers for its products or risk losing them in the sea of Android.

LG L90 Dual

Flipkart has the 8GB LG L90 dual SIM phone up on sale for Rs 16745, while the 16GB Moto G is pegged at Rs 13999. Both handsets have the same quad core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM. But the former wins with its 32GB memory expandability and loses with regards to aesthetic appeal. Additionally, it has a 4.7-inch display of 960 x 540p as compared to the Motorola gadget’s 4.5-inch 720p HD screen.

The L90 Dual may have an 8MP camera, but as PC Advisor says in its a hands-on review, the quality is acceptable and not remarkable. One key software feature is its Knock code which lets you unlock it by tapping specific areas on the display no more than 8 times. Apparently, it’s a little more than inconsistent at best.

Motorola Moto G

LG L90 Dual specifications at a glance:

– 4.7-inch 960 x 540p touchscreen
– Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS
– 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor
– 1GB RAM, 8GB internal, expandable to 32GB
– 8MP rear and 1.3MP front cameras
– Dual SIM card slots
– 131.6mm x 66mm x 9.7mm
– 2540mAh battery

The problem with the flashy UI on this LG L series device is more of an issue with the entire universe of Android phones – fragmentation in user experience which is caused by various manufacturers wanting to leave their signature on the interface via customization. This is exactly why we’ve been hearing rumors of Android Silver lately.

At Rs 16745, the LG L90 Dual would have been a great alternative before the Motorola Moto G was unleashed upon us. But the Motorola Moto G rubs it in the ground when it comes to screen resolution and pricing. Just the cost is enough to assure the success of one over the other, especially in a price-sensitive market like India.
