LG G Flex smartphone with a curved display may be in the pipeline

It looks like curved displays are going to be the next ‘in’ thing and LG seems to have already started working on manufacturing devices that make the most of this type of screen. The LG G Flex smartphone apparently falls under this category and is being developed as we speak.

This will definitely not be the first time when the South Korean manufacturer is considering curvaceous gadgets. A 55-inch curved OLED TV was announced back in May and we believe a whole bunch of such devices will flock to the market in the near future. As far as the smartphone is concerned, nothing has been revealed about it as yet, but the guys over at CNET have some information about it.

Sources closed to the company have confirmed to the aforementioned website that the G Flex name has almost been finalized. It is going to be a phablet because the speculation suggests that it will provide multi-touch real estate of 6 inches. And when the device arrives in the market, it will have to put up with some stiff competition from arch rival Samsung who has a curved version of the Galaxy Note 3 on the cards.

As CNET explains, gadgets with curved displays are not flexible and will not bend, but will have a screen with a fixed angle. Hopefully, the gadget will not seem weird and should even fit in the pockets without any hassle. Rumor has it that it will be made available in November this year and we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for further details. So stay tuned.
