Letv has officially announced that it is launching two of its handsets at an event in New Delhi on January 20. Unfortunately, there’s no word on which of its smartphone it’s unveiling at the occasion, only referring to them as SuperPhones in its social media channels.
To recall, Letv has been hosting a number of preview events at locations across India. The brand had showcased its Le Max device at these places. A recent post on its local Facebook page alludes to great things coming in pairs, hinting that the handset will be accompanied by the recently launched Le Max Pro.
Letv has outed 5 handsets in China so far namely the Le 1, Le 1 Pro, Le Max, Le 1s and Le Max Pro. The last model was unveiled at CES 2016 just over a week ago. It’s the first to ship with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processer. The chipset was expected to debut in Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7.
The standout feature of the Snapdragon 820 CPU is its support of the Sense ID fingerprint tool which makes use of ultrasonic-based biometric technology. The function is supposedly more secure and reliable than the scanners currently in use today due to the unit being able to capture accurate 3D scans of a person’s fingers.
Other top specs include Wi-Fi 802.11ad multi-band connectivity, which provides for speeds up to 4.6Gbps, and Quick Charge 2.0 to power up the handset from 0 to 60% within 30 minutes. Additionally, the Snapdragon 820 processor is made up of 4 of Qualcomm’s new Kryo cores clocked at 2.2Ghz and an Adreno 530 GPU.
Other than the smartphones, Letv also plans to launch a Le 3D Helmet, LeMe Bluetooth Headset and a Super Cycle smart vehicle within the first half of 2016. We’ll keep you updated regarding which of its phones the company decides to release on January 20.
