While the mirasol display technology seems to have captured the fancy of many slate manufacturers, the newest device to feature it is the Koobe Jin Yong eReader. This tablet was recently unveiled at the Taipei International Book Fair wherein its original black and white predecessor had also debuted two years ago in 2010.

Announced by Qualcomm, the next generation Jin Yong eReader derives its name from one of the most renowned best-selling living authors in China, Jin Yong. It comes pre-installed with the writer’s acclaimed 15 novel set which has been compiled into 36 volumes. Powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 processor, the tablet runs on the Android 2.3 OS.

“With Taiwan as home to Qualcomm MEMS Technologies’ growing manufacturing base, it is significant for its consumers to experience the unmatched performance benefits of mirasol displays. Koobe’s next-generation Jin Yong Reader further demonstrates a growing global preference for e-readers that can display a variety of color and interactive content even in bright sunlight,” stated Clarence Chui, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm MEMS Technologies.
