Kobo adds new enhancements to its eReader apps for iOS devices. Featuring more than 3.5 million readers across the world, the new attributes include Reading Life to Twitter which enables users to share quotes, passages, notes, book covers and awards effortlessly to their twitter feed.

Kobo’s Reading Life claims to mark the industry’s first comprehensive social eReading experience. The company has witnessed an increase of more than 50 percent in the reading time ever since its launch in December. It also offers new features for Reading Life, bringing the program to newer partners, platforms and languages throughout 2011.

“Reading Life is helping us bring the culture of books – beyond just buying and reading – to eBooks. Our customers have responded with amazing engagement, but also a substantial increase in time spent reading. Bringing Twitter to Reading Life will enable our customers to reach out to friends in real-time, enabling new opportunities for conversation and discovery,” said Michael Serbinis, CEO, Kobo, Inc.

It allows sharing the Reading Life Mosaic through Twitter and also the latest read with followers. Users can also chat with friends about new reads and purchase as well as start reading books recommended by others. Kobo’s store has a selection of more than 2.3 million eBooks including NYT bestseller list, hottest new releases, thrillers, romance and others. It also offers access to newspapers and magazines.

The Kobo eReading app for iPhone can be downloaded from kobo.com or iTunes App Store while current users can directly lay their hands on the update.
