LG Apex via U.S. Cellular latest to get Froyo update

LG Apex Froyo Update

With Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of the Android OS for mobile phones revealed, most users would want to have it ported to their devices right away. Now only if manufacturers thought along similar lines – a host of Android devices are still functioning on Android 2.1. But it’s time we guess for LG Apex users to get some Froyo loving. The official U.S. Cellular Android downloads page shares that the Apex is the newest phone to be updated to version 2.2 of the mobile operating system.

First off, security and calendar functions have been improved. Microsoft Exchange Support enables calendar and search global address lists to be integrated. On the security front, remote wipe has been included. The much needed performance boost is said to make multitasking a cinch while the phone will also lend a helping hand to microSD card app storage for more space.

The list of integrated Google services has further been expanded with the inclusion of Quick Search Box, Latitude, Navigator, Places, and more. The enhanced portable Wi-Fi hotspot will empower users to divvy up their handset’s internet connection with a maximum of five other devices. The homescreen assistance widget has also been revamped for the better. The update however does not bring in support for Flash.

The Froyo update for U.S. Cellular’s LG Apex is available to download now. It isn’t an OTA update.
