Kobo for Android app gets multilingual and social

Android App

The Kobo for Android app is ready for a global tour as it now supports different languages. But that’s not all, it includes some new features such as Facebook Timeline integration, tablet optimization and Kobo Pulse.

The eReading utility that was only available in English, now supports French, German, Dutch, Italian, and Spanish. A new in-book progress indicator has been incorporated to know how much of the concerned book has been covered. Additional font sizes have been thrown in to appeal to different users. Tablet wielders can peruse content conveniently in the 2-page landscape view offered by the application. This feature is tailored to enable reading just like on a real paperback.

“This new version includes a new in-book progress indicator and additional font sizes. What’s more, users in France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany now have access to some cool features that were previously only available in the English version of the app,” states a post on the official Kobo blog.

Using Kobo Pulse, readers can share ideas and thoughts about their favorite books with other users. These attributes were only a part of the English version, but can now be accessed in countries like Italy, Spain, France, Netherlands and Germany. With SNS integration, people can interact with family and friends while they are reading their favorite titles. According to the company, it is Facebook’s only official eReading partner.

The updated Kobo for Android app can be downloaded via Google Play.
