The price of the Kobian Mercury mTab streaQ has gone live and the pocket-friendly device has already made its debut at store shelves. The company says that it is one of the slimmest and lightest 3G tablets that are compatible with a couple of SIM cards at the same time.
The tablet in question is the first from the company to feature dual SIM capability along with a built-in 3G module. Some of the others that have already made their appearances with similar features are the Swipe Legend and the All in One, both of which go easy on customers’ pockets. An advantage of this slate is that it doesn’t require an external dongle to run on 3G networks.
A capacitive multi-touch display of 7 inches and 16:9 aspect ratio, takes over the front side of the Mercury tab and works towards rendering clear images in 1024 x 600p resolution. Under the screen, lies an intuitive interface that is triggered by Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform. The OEM hasn’t mentioned if the device will be receiving the Jelly Bean upgrade or not.
Apart from 2G and 3G networks through SIM cards, the device can offer web access through a hotspot, thanks to its built-in Wi-Fi and boasts of Bluetooth for facilitating wireless data transfer to and from compatible devices. The mTab streaQ comes encased in a 7mm chassis which weighs approximately 280 grams.
And if that’s not enough, a 0.3MP VGA webcam rests on the front for letting users make face-to-face video calls. Another 2MP camera lays claim over the rubber-coated back panel and has the ability to record videos as well. The slab acquires multitasking properties from a 1.2GHz Cortex A9 processor and draws power from a 3100mAh battery that should keep it charged for an entire day. It ships with 1GB of RAM, 8GB integrated storage and microSD card slot for expanding the memory.
The Kobian Mercury mTab streaQ is now up for grabs through authorized dealers for a price of Rs. 11,499. It is backed by a one-year warranty.
