Josh Fortune Square looks to redefine cheap Android phones segment

Priced at a mere Rs 2,999, the just-launched Josh Fortune Square is the cheapest Android phone you can buy at the moment. But that doesn’t mean it’s a completely raw deal, for the handset has been blessed with a pretty decent set of specifications considering its price tag. The Fortune Square from Josh Mobiles is a dual SIM device bearing GSM support on both its slots.

At its launch, Deepak Gupta who’s the director at Josh Mobiles conveyed that the Fortune Square has been created to suit the requirement of every entertainment lover. Although outdated, the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS with its tried and tested performance finds its way into the smartphone.

The handset adopts the traditional candybar form factor, and possesses the standard home, menu and back capacitive keys on its front surface. Above them rests a 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen display which showcases its visuals with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.

Underneath its hood, lies a 1GHz processor and a 256MB RAM. Aside from its mere 90MB worth of internal storage, a microSD card slot is also present on the Josh Fortune Square with support for expansions of up to 32GB. The phone also features support for both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Josh Mobiles has blessed this device with a 1450mAh battery that keeps it going between charges. It has been disclosed that this power unit is capable of delivering standby time of up to 4 hours. On the other hand, its talktime hasn’t been mentioned by its maker.

Like we said, the Josh Fortune Square has been placed at Rs. 2,999, making it cheaper than a number of feature phones available out there.
