HTC promises unlocked bootloader for selected phones

HTC Bootloader Unlock Facebook

HTC released a statement, promising users a bootloader unlock for selected phones. Many companies are known for making promises and while few of them follow the policy of ‘Promises are made to be broken’, others stand firm on what they offer. HTC claims to have initiated efforts to fulfill their commitment. Android fans rejoiced on hearing the company’s promise to re-grant them access to device bootloader.

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC commented “There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we’ve listened. Today, I’m confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience.”

Ever since the retaliation of users and developers on the company’s decision to lock bootloaders, HTC decided to stand with its followers rather than go against them. Also, the company plans on providing unlocks for all future devices.

According to the HTC Facebook page, the updates will be available for selected devices such as, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and the HTC EVO 3D. As of now, the company hasn’t provided any launch date for the upgrade.
