HTC One Max gets an official launch in India, and a price that will make you cry

The HTC One Max we were talking about just yesterday has been given an official launch in India. If you thought the iPhone was expensive, check out the tag of Rs 61,490 on this one. But fear not, it’s just the MRP and the Taiwanese maker has cited a best buy price of Rs 56,490 for it.

Those who go online to Flipkart or The MobileStore can get it for even less than that. Both stores have an asking price of Rs 53,909 tacked to the One Max. It’s not clear why HTC chose the post-Diwali splurging period to release such a costly device. Maybe the company couldn’t get it together sooner that this? Even the US welcomed the smartphone only in November.

Apart from the handset, Bluetooth accessories covering a Rs 2,399 Fetch keychain for keeping track of the device and a Mini+ remote control for Rs 7,790 were unveiled in the country. Another useful launch was the Power Flip Case battery expansion add-on pegged at Rs 5,999.

Getting back to the One Max, its highlighted feature is something the iPhone 5S has also been boasting about – fingerprint reading technology. But while the Apple smartphone treats its home button as a biometric sensor for helping users unlock it, the HTC device has its fingerprint scanner on the rear side.

Here’s a quick look at what you get with the One Max:

– 1.7GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 processor
– Android Jelly Bean 4.3 with HTC Sense 5.5 UI
– 5.9” 1080p full HD touchscreen
– 2GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB onboard storage
– MicroSD card slot for up to 64GB extra space
– Ultrapixel camera on the back, 2.1MP webcam
– 33300mAh battery
