HTC Explorer soon to be available as affordable smartphone in India

Sporting a stylishly curvy and compact design, the HTC Explorer is making its way in India as the most affordable smartphone from the company. It was recently unveiled globally and is expected to be available in the country by the last quarter of 2011.

Primarily, the handset is dressed in colors like Metallic Black, Active Black and Metallic Navy but users have a choice of personalizing the look of their smartphone with optional back covers in shades of Metallic Blue, Metallic Orange, Metallic White as well as Metallic Purple. Offering an advanced experience to new users of smartphones, the key specifications of the HTC Explorer include a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, 3MP camera, along with 3G, Wi-Fi, GPRS, and EDGE connectivity.

“HTC Explorer is an easy-to-use smartphone that puts the customer in control, providing quick access to their most important content and information,” said Jason Mackenzie, president of global sales and marketing, HTC Corporation. “HTC Explorer is simply a smarter phone for anyone and it represents another clear demonstration of HTC’s global commitment to expanding the market for advanced smartphones.”

The Explorer is based on the Android 2.3 operating system accompanied by the HTC Sense which lets users experience a wide range of widgets, vibrant graphics and animation. It also employs a 600MHz central processor along with 512MB RAM. The 1230mAh battery offers a standby time of up to 450 hours while a talk time of approximately 455 minutes.

By the last quarter of this year, the HTC Explorer is expected to hit key markets in EMEA and Asia. This handset will be available for a price of around Rs. 12, 000.
