GooPhone repeats history by unveiling i5C ahead of upcoming Apple event

The launch of the GooPhone i5C is enough evidence to realize that the manufacturer has no plans to quit mimicking Apple any time soon. Surfacing a few months after GooPhone introduced its very own i5S, the news has the smartphone offering the cheap iPhone-like features, except with a hint of Android.

While we can understand that Apple will unveil the iPhone 5C intending to take a bite of the low-budget segment, we don’t really see the point of the Chinese company launching another mockup, especially since the GooPhone i5C is quite similar to the I5S. In fact, it even surpasses the latter phone in certain aspects.

GooPhone i5C

The device rocks Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box as against its older sibling which plays host to the OS’ version 4.1.2. A 1.2GHz dual core MediaTek MT6572 chipset furnishes the GooPhone i5C with the speed necessary for multitasking, while seeking aid from 1GB of RAM.

Camera-wise, there’s a 5MP primary shooter featuring autofocus as well as an LED flash, and a 2MP webcam lodged into the handset. Apparently, the inbuilt 2,000mAh battery should be able to render up to 5 hours or talk time or two days of standby.

Official eStore

The i5C smartphone has been listed on the company’s official eStore at a price of $99.99, drenched in a hue of white. The release date however, is still a mystery. AnyBuying is yet another outlet which has promised to stock the device upon its launch, Engadget reported.
