Facebook peeks into your personal info for ad-related purposes

Several hours ago, Facebook proposed a plethora of changes to the social network, applying to the Data Use Policy and Statement Rights and Responsibilities. Elaborating on the topic, Erin Egan who is the chief privacy officer at Facebook said that these documents revolve around how the company accumulates and employs user content, while abiding by the necessary parameters.

Egan went on to imply that the social network will henceforth utilize users’ names, profile pictures in its advertising algorithms. He justified this step as a settlement in a court case which concerns their ad policies. So running the SNS is a clear indication that the company has the complete permission to employ such data in order to display relevant commercials.

It moreover has the ability to narrow down the device through which Facebook is being used and reap sensitive information like the IP address as well as phones numbers. The company has remarked that service providers will be cahoots when it comes to sharing such details, while it will refer to profile pictures so as to suggest user tags in other images.

Of course, this is only a proposal as of now and the company states that it will welcome all kinds of feedbacks granted this week. It goes without saying that this idea has been absolutely disregarded, with users making no effort to hide their resentment towards the forthcoming updates.

Apart from the aforementioned updates, administrative-related changes with respect to Facebook headquarter locations have been made, while those residing in regions that aren’t allowed to receive goods and services from the US will not have access to the domain.
