Google Wallet app out to cash in on iOS users

The Google Wallet app which has long been proffering its benefits to Android users has finally been launched for Apple’s iOS devices, bundled with most of the features which the original software possesses. These include money transferring to friends, loyalty card support as well as tracking of nearby offers. One notable exclusion however, the Tap-to-pay feature which of course will be impossible to implement due to the absence of NFC on iOS devices.

With this app, you are able to send money to any of your friends in the US via email. You will also no longer be required to carry around you loyalty cards, as all the information will be available to be stored on your devices just like with Apple’s very own Passbook service. Another cool feature about Google Wallet is its ability to use your location to display nearby offers and more. This information also gets integrated with Google’s Now service which too had been made available to iOS users earlier this year.

All this protected by your PIN which provides you with the necessary security. And in case you are to lose your devices you can even remotely disable the app through Google Wallet’s official site. All these services hold relevance mostly for the US, as they’re yet to make their full-fledged entry into India.

As announced by the Google Commerce blog, Google Wallet is now live on the App Store, and can be downloaded for free. It can work on all iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices running iOS 6 or higher.
