While Google has already built Translate in a way to tend those people’s needs who different speak dialects from all over the world, it must have thought that the site was still short of a few languages. This is probably why the search giant has announced the entry of five fresh dialects one of which is Marathi.
This language is majorly a native tongue of those residing in Maharashtra. The company has mentioned that the five lingos to have debuted are spoken amongst 183 million people across the globe. Out of this, 73 million are those who speak in Marathi.
Even though this isn’t the first Indian dialect to have paved its way onto the website, this inclusion can be counted as a significant development considering the number of users employing the web from Mumbai itself. If we were to run through other languages that are a part of this service, we would find Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu in the list.
Apart from Marathi, the service will now offer conversion of sentences into Bosnian, Cebuano, Javanese and Hmong. The first language is mainly spoken in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The reach of this dialect has crossed the country’s borders and has spread to neighboring regions as well. It is also used as a medium of conversation by diaspora communities worldwide.
The second dialect is called Cebuano and is spoken in Philippines. Those who mainly chat in this language belong to the middle and southern parts of the region. Next up is Javanese which is said to be the second most-commonly used lingo in Indonesia, the first understandably being Indonesian. This covers a crowd of 83 million native speakers.
Finally, those living in the Far East, specifically within the confines of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand converse in Hmong. The same language is also employed as a source of communication throughout the region of the United States.
The company has declared that apart from Bosnian, other lingos to have crossed the threshold of Google Translate are ‘alpha’. This means that the quality lacks perfection, but the better part is yet to come. With the inclusion of these, the service now comprises of more than 70 languages and can be accessed via Android and iOS gadgets or even through Chrome.
