Google Play Books application updated, lets you upload EPUB or PDF files via devices

The Google Play Books application has been updated by the Mountain View-based company and it now has some new feature to boast of. The update has already been rolled out and those who haven’t received a notification as yet can head over to the Play store to get the new version.

This application now claims to be smooth and opens more quickly when compared to the previous version of the app. The interface has been enhanced and the look and feel of notes as well as highlighted content has been improved to a great extent. And those who like to burn the midnight oil, will be delighted to know that lower brightness settings have been introduced to facilitate reading in dim lighting.

And what’s more, an option to upload PDF and EPUB to the library directly from the Android tablet or smartphone has been made possible. You only have to tap on the files that you received via emails or downloads and click upload to bring them to the library.

You need not stick to the portrait view for reading books, it now supports the landscape mode as well. The application gives you recommendations for books and you have the option of dismissing the ones you have already read or do not want to read from the ‘Read Now’ column. Improvements for performance, stability and accessibility have also been tossed into the mix.

The Google Play Books app is available free of charge through the Play store for Android-based smartphones as well as tablets.
