Are curved displays here to stay?

Curved displays have given smartphones a whole new dimension and even though this is not the right time to comment whether bendable devices have been accepted whole heartedly by customers or not, we feel that people are taking a liking towards them. Samsung and LG are the two smartphone makers who have already constructed curved displays and have released products that make use of the same. The latter even has a 55-inch OLED TV to its credit that falls in this category.

Samsung Galaxy Round:

The Galaxy Round from Samsung isn’t exactly bendable, but it’s pretty curvy and has a horizontal arc. And we must say that the company has taken full advantage of the unusual screen by deploying features like Roll Effect and Gravity Effect amongst others.

And in spite of using an arched screen, the device refrains from missing out on important features such as a quad core processor, 3GB RAM, Jelly Bean 4.3 OS and a 2800mAh battery amongst other things. The screen itself measures 5.7 inches and renders full HD visuals.

LG G Flex:

As for LG’s contender, it is a truly flexible phone that has a vertical arc which flexes as can be seen in the video we have attached below. Apart from bestowing the device with a very elegant curve, the OEM has even loaded some extremely useful features like self-healing powers for the back panel and some high-end components for a great performance.

Also, LG as designed a curved battery that hides under the curvaceous hood along with a quad core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and the Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OS. It shows off a 6-inch POLED touchscreen.

Conclusion:

Both the gadgets are unique in their own right and are currently only available in select regions across the globe. The G Flex has already started its globe-trekking expeditions, but the Galaxy Round is currently not in the mood to leave its home country. The buzz around the devices has been pretty satisfactory and this could mean that curved displays are indeed here to stay.
