Not long after the Google Nexus 7 began shipping in the US, Australia, Canada and the UK, most retailers have already run out of stock. Apparently, between the two versions, the 16GB tablet has received a greater number of requests.

As ZDNet has pointed out, the overwhelming demand for the Nexus 7 Jelly Bean update has resulted in the shortage of the devices in question. Retail store B&H has notified that since it is a freshly introduced tablet, it has been released throughout in limited quantity. For now, the retailer will be accepting orders, but buyers will receive the device on a first come first service basis.

Along the same lines, GameStop has mentioned that for the moment there is no available stock and has hinted at a third allotment that will commence this August. Outlets such as Staples and Kmart that sell only the 16GB versions have already hung up the ‘sold out’ sign. Like the aforementioned retailers, the case is the same for other distributors like Office Depot and Mobile City.

While there is a prominent scarcity of both versions, Google’s Play Store on the contrary continues to ship the 8GB tablet within 3 to 5 days from the date the order is placed. During the process, pre-order customers will receive a notification via the online retailer that will contain a shipping tracking number. For the 16GB version, buyers will have to wait for a week or more to get their hands on it.

The Google Nexus 7 price is tagged at $199 (approx. Rs. 11,010) for the 8GB version and $249 (approx. Rs. 13,775) for the 16GB one.
