Google’s fifteenth birthday brought in some really useful features along with an all new search algorithm that goes by the name of Hummingbird. An updated version of Knowledge Graph has now gone live and the Mountain View-based company has also introduced push notifications that will be made available very soon.

Let’s take a look at the all new version of Knowledge Graph first. This feature actually eliminates the need to type in specific keywords to launch a search. You can simply use voice recognition from your smartphone to ask the search engine a question and the latter will oblige with specific results. Thus, if you wish to know about artists you only have to say ‘tell me about Impressionist artists’ and the links will show up.

Moreover, something called as the Filter tool has been placed on the page which makes it easy for you to switch between queries. In addition to this, there’s a comparison tool that comes in handy when you wish to find out the differences between various things, for example, butter and olive oil, various dog breeds, celestial objects and much more.

And if that’s not enough, the Google Search app for the iPhone and the iPad will soon be updated with push notifications feature. This will be a cross-platform feature and will work across all of your devices. So you can simply tell the search engine to remind you about something from your Nexus tablet and the company will send you a notification on your iPhone at the relevant time. Google Now notifications will also appear on these gadgets.

So this is what Google has treated us to on its 15th birthday and in the future, the company is looking forward to come up with even more convenient ways to search through handheld gadgets.
