The Gionee Pioneer P3S, the latest addition to the series of budget smartphones, has been launched and is priced at Rs 5999. It’s available now via the brand’s official website and will be up for sale across India this week.
The dual-SIM Gionee Pioneer P3S is major upgrade over its predecessor, which was released back in December 2013. It carries a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480 x 854p) screen and is fuelled through a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor. The device is backed by a 2000mAh battery, equipped with an Extreme Mode which enables the last 10% of the power to be extended for a longer time.
The company claims the Pioneer P3S can survive for a maximum of 240 hours of standby time on 2G and 9 hours of talk time on 3G. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 with a layer of the brand’s own Amigo 3.1 on top. In terms of memory, the smartphone has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is a significant improvement over the paltry 4GB it was offering in the earlier version of the phone

Gionee has endowed the handset with a microSD card slot to let users add up to 32GB of space. The device houses a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP front-facing one for selfies. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and A-GPS. It measures 133 x 67.4 x 11.2mm in terms of dimensions and weighs 161g.
