GarageBand app arrives for iPhone

Launched earlier this year for the iPad, the GarageBand app by Apple has now been released for the iPhone and iPod touch. The app is said to be apt for music aficionados who like to mix and match instruments to create music compositions. It lets them do so virtually with its multi-touch interface support.

This fun app can also be employed by users who don’t exactly know much about music or haven’t actually played an instrument as it allows for trying out different musical tools and making songs. The application offers a variety of fun, easy to use Touch Instruments for beginners as well as experienced musicians to play and record keyboards, guitars, drums and basses in numerous styles. The Smart Instruments feature lets users choose among a vast library of custom chords so that they can play and strum in sync with their favorite songs.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing cited, “GarageBand on iPad has been a big hit and we think customers will love using it on their iPhone or iPod touch. The innovative multitouch interface combined with Smart Instruments makes it easy to create great sounding music, even if you’ve never studied music or played an instrument before.”

Those who have electric guitars can plug these into the iPhone to play and record through classic amps and stompbox effects. Users are also enabled to record their voice or any acoustic sound with the incorporated microphone. Through this app users can record and mix up to eight tracks and share the finished songs with friends as well as send them to a Mac or PC.

The GarageBand app for iPhone is available at the Apple App Store for a price of $4.99.
