That the Google Pixel 8a is being prepped for a 2024 launch is no secret. We’ve heard plenty of rumours about it before but we’re now being granted a look at the design of this affordable Pixel.

Thanks to a new leak that comes via Android Headlines, we can look at the probable design changes that will go into the new handset. In terms of its overall appearance, the Pixel 8a seems very similar to the Pixel 8 that was released last year.

The rear panel of this new device seems to have a matte finish, which is a departure from its predecessor, the Pixel 7a. And as for the camera module, there’s little to no difference here compared to the Pixel 8 series.

What this leak has also given us is a look at the colour options that will be on offer when you buy the Pixel 8a. The phone will be made available dressed in Obsidian, Mint, Porcelain, and Bay shades, all of which have been seen on other Pixel phones of the past.

In terms of the specs of the Pixel 8a, nothing official is out yet but past leaks have indeed given us something to munch on. The phone is expected to sport a 6.1-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

At its heart will of course be the Google Tensor G3 processor that also powers the Pixel 8 phones. Dual cameras are expected to form part of its all-important photography setup. While the main one will be a 64MP sensor, the ultra-wide unit will grab a 13MP sensor.

The Google Pixel 8a is most likely to debut during Google’s annual I/O conference that’s set to take place on May 14 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.
