PocketCPR iPhone App For sure, people across the world know that sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. But more scaring is the fact that it usually causes death if it’s not treated within minutes. To help users act smart and deal with it, Zoll Medical Corporation is now offering its PocketCPR training app for iPhone as a free download during February in recognition of the American Heart Association’s American Heart Month.

The new app can be used in all CPR training programs or for individual practice at any time. Designed to help reduce lives lost to sudden cardiac arrest, the app prepares both professionals and lay rescuers to perform CPR for victims of SCA.

“Response to the Pocket CPR for iPhone app has been tremendous. Since we first introduced it last November, we’ve had over 35,000 downloads from more than 60 countries,” explained Mark Totman, President of Zoll’s Bio-Detek subsidiary that developed the application. “Providing an easy-to-use application and practicing CPR could significantly help improve outcomes from SCA, the leading cause of unexpected death.”

The PocketCPR app provides real-time feedback and instructions on CPR that empowers anyone to learn and practice CPR. The must-have app is a great tool for families to learn CPR in order to be prepared if a loved one needs their help. In addition to clear visual and audio step-by-step instructions and feedback, the app also reinforces the American Heart Association and International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation recommendations on CPR.

Further, it actively utilizes the accelerometer hardware in the iPhone for real-time coaching and actual feedback on CPR. It also measures the actual rate and depth of users’ compressions and lets them know if they need to push faster or slower, and whether they should push harder or software.

The PocketCPR app for the iPhone and iPod Touch is now available as a free download from the Apple iTunes App Store.
