Flurry: Amazon generates more revenue than Android

Flurry Revenue Generation Results

According to a research conducted by Flurry, Amazon that utilizes the forked version of the Google OS, generates more revenue than that acquired by the Android platform. The research takes into account, a set of applications that are available on all three app stores, namely Amazon App store, iTunes and Google Play.

Considering the revenue generated by the Apple App Store for a particular app as 100 percent, the researchers found out that the developers managed to earn 89 percent for the same application in Amazon App store and 23 percent through Google Play. This can also be interpreted by taking into consideration, the same number of users of all the platforms in question. These results reveal that Amazon and Android earn $0.89 and $0.23 respectively, for every $1 earned by Apple for an application.

“For some possible insight, let’s consider the DNA of each company. Apple runs the highest revenue-per-square foot generating retail store on the planet as well as the successful iTunes store. Amazon, who invented the one-click purchase, perfected online shopping with data, efficiency and customer service. Google’s strength is in scalable online search engine and advertising technology. Running a store, retail or digital, has not been Google’s traditional core competency,” reports the official Flurry blog.

The above mentioned results bear similarities to the ones obtained in December last year by Flurry, which disclosed that Google earned $0.24 for every $1 of the fruity giant. Amazon’s upper hand in revenue generation can basically be attributed to its decision of forking the Android platform.

Finally, the reports from Flurry believe that an increasing number of developers may prefer Amazon over Android.
