Facebook Messenger for Android updated, ability to text via app in tow

Facebook Messenger for Android has been updated with simpler functioning and a new design. According to the developers, friends are just a ‘swipe away’ with the new enhancements included in the application.

First off, users can conveniently and instantly see who’s in for a chat by checking out ‘available’ pals. Simply swiping the finger to the left panel on any part of the app will show up the available friends, following which the user can send messages to them. Looking out for specific persons on the chat bar can be irksome. To reduce the trouble, the SNS app will display the frequently messaged acquaintances on the top portion of the Favorites panel so that it’s easier to locate them.

The entire design and appearance of the application has also been tweaked. A topic of discussion with one person or a group of people will now appear in a more conversational format. With this new redesigned layout, it is easy to see which message is from which person and this should allow for better conversation within context.

People wielding certain Android phones can now send messages to contacts stored in their smartphones directly from the messenger. This means that the texts in the device as well as Facebook messages can be perused in one place itself. The update has been rolled out to deliver a seamless chatting experience on mobile devices.

The updated Facebook Messenger for Android is up for download via Google Play. The iOS version will be made available soon, says the company.
