Following their launch in the US last month, the Dell Vostro 14 and 15 3000 series notebooks are now available in India. These laptops are upgraded versions of last year’s models and they come with the latest silicon Intel and Nvidia have to offer.
The Dell Vostro 14 and 15 3000 series are designed for business and they flaunt premium form factors which are under 1-inch in thickness. And the company is offering the new notebooks at affordable prices. The former laptop has a 14-inch HD LED-backlit display and it runs Windows 8.1 64-bit.
You get options of either a fourth generation Intel Core i4 4050U processor with HD graphics 4400 or the newer Core i5 5200U chip from the fifth generation lineup. Additionally, there are discrete GeForce GT 820M 2GB graphics for running GPU intensive software and games.
Dell is also throwing in dual speakers with Wave MaxxAudio, an HD webcam, an optical drive, a multi-touch trackpad, a full-size chiclet keyboard with numeric keys and a 40WHr or 47WHr battery depending on whether you opt for a discrete GPU. You can expect up to 9 hours of activity from this laptop.
For connectivity, there’s Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0, an SD card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, VGA output and USB 2.0/3.0 ports. The Vostro 15 is almost identical to its sibling in design and features, but offers a larger display of 15.6 inches. There’s no fifth generation Intel processor option listed on the product page as yet and you’ll only have choices of a Celeron 3205U, a Pentium 3805U or a Core i3-4005U CPU.
Depending on which processor you pick, you can get up to 8GB of RAM or a total of 1TB HDD space. The Vostro 15 offers the same optional discrete GPU as the Vostro 14 and the connectivity features are identical as well. This notebook can deliver up to 8 hours 42 minutes on a single charge of its 4-cell battery.
The Dell Vostro 14 3000 series is available from Rs 38990 and up, while the Vostro 15 notebook has a starting retail tag of Rs 39290.
