BuzzCity: Mobile Internet Picks up Momentum

BuzzCity Logo We last caught a sight of BuzzCity when it released the availability details of its Android SDK. The company has now highlighted that mobile phones are sustaining and not replacing consumer demand for PCs.

The research surveyed 5,000 people and highlighted that tools continue to remain essential for mobile internet users. Reportedly, 51 percent mobile internet users do not enjoy daily access to fixed line internet and 23 percent do not use the fixed internet. The research revealed that 21 percent individuals are expected to buy a computer accessory in the upcoming twelve months and 36 percent have already used tablets.

Dr KF Lai, CEO of BuzzCity, commented, “Mobile browsing has been viewed as a threat to PCs, but our research shows that this is drastically oversimplifying things. Many people use the internet on a range of devices, both mobile and otherwise.”

According to the survey, mobile phones may have a greater share as compared to PCs for their internet browsing capabilities. Mobile gaming is considerably affecting the demand for gaming consoles. The survey shared that Indian mobile buffs enjoy more sports and movie content on their handsets as well as the flexibility to recharge pre-paid mobile phone balances and buy SMS bundles.

The research underlined that Nokia continues to dominate mobile browsing with 42 percent of internet traffic while Samsung has improved and surpassed Sony Ericsson. Mobile surfing and downloading of games seem to be increasing in various countries such as Venezuela, Argentina, India, United States and South Africa.

The survey was conducted from October 2010 to January 2011 in 13 countries, representing a wide range of geographic regions like America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
