If there’s anything that’s kept the buzz moving at the MWC this year, it’s got to be the slew of Android-based devices. ZTE jumps on to the bandwagon with its Skate smartphone which is fitted by a large 4.3” screen besides the Android 2.3 platform of course. While the feature list doesn’t reveal anything worth turning heads around, the phone could be worth picking up for the pocket-conscious mobile enthusiast.

The company’s newly entered flagship Android smarphone picks up from the skateboard. Its super thin frame is complemented by a lightweight body that tips the scale at a mere 120g. Add to it the large screen and ZTE says web surfing is a completely enjoyable experience. Powered by an 800MHz processor, the Adreno 200 GPU runs the show on this latest Android entrant.

The handset additionally features a 5MP camera alongside connectivity attributes like multimedia Bluetooth extension, A-GPS capability and Wi-Fi. It is also enabled for GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900MHz and HSDPA/UMTS at 900/2100MHz networks. The included hardware compass and G-sensor should team up well with the user-friendly interface the phone is claimed to offer. Easy access to robust multimedia features further seems to be an added perk of this smartphone.

ZTE also revealed its ‘Light Your Smart World’ smart product strategy for tablets and smartphones at the ongoing mobile event. As for the ZTE Skate, it should hit markets beginning May 2011.
