Microsoft offers a sneak peek in to new features for Windows Phone 7

Windows Phone 7 featuresUsers avidly waiting for more on their Windows Phone 7 based handsets can now heave a sigh of relief with this development. That’s because Microsoft has formally announced the new upcoming features for Windows Phone 7 as it picks moment, during the MWC in Barcelona. The statement released by Microsoft regarding the updates also includes information like increasing app market and addition of more Microsoft features in upcoming phones.

Microsoft recently made it public its strategic partnership with Nokia, which is aimed at combining the strengths of both the companies. It is said that the coalition between these two giants can create various opportunities for business growth and offer alternatives to the existing choices for mobile developers, operators and consumers.

“A year ago, we introduced Windows Phone 7 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We described how we are putting the entire muscle of our company behind our mobile strategy including Windows, Windows Live, Bing, Zune, Xbox LIVE, Office, SharePoint, Exchange, and our developer tools.” expressed Andy Lees, president of Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business.

The company has sought to include several Windows Phone 7 features to enhance the overall performance of the platform. The first major update is copy and paste functionality, due to roll out next month. Other expanded upgrades for year 2011 include support for Office documents in the cloud, Twitter integration into the People Hub and improved Web browser experience based on Internet Explorer 9. Few multitasking applications are also introduced this year along with the aim of targeting a large number of Nokia Windows Phones in the year 2012.

With no exact release dates for these updates, only time will tell if they should be able to overcome some of the platform’s shortcomings.
