BMW’s CE 04 Electric Scooter Is Ready For The Streets

BMW CE 04

It seems BMW was pretty serious when it said last year that its CE 04 concept is aiming for a production run. The German company has already unveiled the consumer model that will be going on sale next year at around $16,000. This electric scooter relies on its futuristic looks for grabbing the attention of potential buyers.

The BMW CE 04 features a compact front apron, large side panels, and a lean tail section. It is being offered in two color options, with one among them being white with matt black sections and the other grabbing a metallic shade with a black/orange seat. For those who have seen the original concept, spotting the differences between the two is going to be a task.

The new BMW CE 04 – Powerful and Energetic

“The BMW CE 04 is our new electric star for the city. It combines an e-drive with emotion and motorcycling fun. The latest technology, and the best battery cells, which also provide power in the BMW iX. Just like the CE 04, all future new BMW Motorrad models for urban mobility will be pure electric.” said, Oliver Zipse, CEO of BMW AG.

The BMW CE 04 offers a top speed of 120kmph thanks to its magnet motor that’s mounted in the steel frame, between the battery and rear wheel. The rated output of this motor is 15kW or 20hp, while its maximum output is 31KW or 42hp. It also allows the electric scooter to go from 0 to 50kmph in just 2.6 seconds.

Resting in the floorboard of the BMW CE 04 is an 8.9kWh lithium-ion battery that allows a range of up to 130kms on a full charge. This battery’s charging capacity is also impressive, going from 0 to 100 percent in an hour and 40 minutes using a 6.9kW fast charger. However, that charging time comes down to 4 hours and 20 minutes if a 2.3kW charger is deployed.
