Needless to say, a commendable service is bound to take place when two mega brands collide to innovate for their users. A similar collaboration has unleashed an enticing offering for BMW’s consumers who own Apple’s iPhone. Well, BMW has just announced its support to the iPod out feature integrated in the iOS 4 for the iPhone. The company has announced that it’s recently developed BMW Group interface technology will offer BMW and MINI drivers an intuitive and effortless way of operating their handsets in the upcoming BMW Group vehicles.

The iPod Out functionality assists BMW and MINI infotainment systems in displaying and controlling the music playback feature in the iPhone on the car’s main display. The on-board monitor in BMW and MINI empowers users with the ease and familiarity they are used to in their handsets. The iPod Out requires the iOS 4 with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

The latest interface technology developed to integrate support for this feature enables continuous accessibility of the iPod Out features of the iPhone in vehicles. The future BMW and MINI vehicles supporting this technology will be able to quickly adapt the software lifecycles of the iPhone. The interface technology has been designed by the BMW Research and Development Centre and the BMW Group Technology.

BMW claims that with this latest technology it ‘once again takes the leading role in the Infotainment integration of the iPhone’. Previously in keeping with the market launch of the iPhone in 2007, the company had proffered an exclusive technological solution for embedding the iPhone in its vehicular infotainment system.
