The Blackberry Torch 9850 smartphone claims to have the largest display and highest resolution as compared to other Blackberry smartphones, till date. It aims at enabling users to stay connected with their personal as well as professional lives. The device is powered by the BlackBerry 7 operating system and incorporates next generation BlackBerry browser with HTML 5 performance.

The BBM experience and a range of apps have been broadened to fit in gaming and social networking The Social Feeds app is upgraded, to capture feeds from media, podcasts and arrange it in one consolidated view. The Universal search capability is also updated to support voice-activated search. Blackberry’s premium version of Documents To Go has been included to provide document editing features along with PDF viewer.

The mobile phone is embedded with a 5 megapixel camera and 720p HD video recording capabilities. Other features include 3.7-inch high-resolution touchscreen display, trackpad navigation and a 1.2GHz processor. The Liquid Graphics technology, gives a certain edge to the handset by enhancing its speed and graphics. Complete with Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS and Bluetooth 2, it wraps a 16GB micro-SD card expandable up to 32GB.

The BlackBerry Balance administrator allows for remotely wiping-off business information from the smartphone while the personal information is intact. It not only secures access to business information but also prevents data from getting copied into, sent from or used by personal applications. The Global Ready Quad band supporting UMTS, HSPA, GSM, GPRS can be utilized in more than 200 countries, with 3G speeds in 45 of them.

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone will be available for a price of $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers who purchase the device need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 for monthly access and a smartphone data package starting at $30 providing monthly access for 2GB of data. The 9850 will be available at www.verizonwireless.com on September 8 and in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on September 15.
