Sushi lunch picture by Apple engineer taken from iPhone 5?

iPhone 5Amidst numerous iPhone 5 rumors floating around, here is probably the most appetizing of them all. Evidently the picture of a plate filled with Sushi, which was Apple software engineer Anton D’Auria’s lunch, had been taken by him through the latest version of the smartphone.

It is quite likely that the said picture, discovered by PocketNow, was taken from the next generation iPhone whose launch is being awaited by innumerable people the world over. This is being hailed as the first iPhone 5 photograph to have reached and be viewed by the general public. Titled ‘lunch’ it was found on the Flickr account of the engineer and seems to have been captured at the Apple head quarters. The location is most likely to be correct as the GPS data displays the photo’s origin to 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, CA which is where the HQ is situated.

Although the EXIF data of the photo suggests that it was shot with an iPhone 4, certain components make its origins questionable. The original picture was supposedly taken with a 3264 × 2448 pixel resolution which comes to approximately 8MP. Then it was cropped to 2235 × 2291 that is about 5MP. It is thus being compounded that since the iPhone 4 has a 5MP camera it couldn’t possibly take an 8MP resolution photo.

Another factor that points to its iPhone 5 origination is that this picture was reportedly captured with a 4.3mm f/2.4 lens. This cannot be the case if it was an iPhone 4 photo as it possesses a 3.85mm f/2.8 lens.

Though Anton’s Flickr account has now become private, this Sushi picture could, in all probability be a fake one. The only option remaining for iPhone enthusiasts thus is to sit back and see whether any of these rumors turn out to be true or are just mere hearsay.
