The good news for those owning the RIM tablet is that the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 has now been made available. This software update is packed with a variety of features such as an integrated email client with a unified inbox, enhanced mobile productivity and revamped BlackBerry Bridge app, among many others.

With the 2.0 OS, PlayBook users would be able to experience upgraded document editing functions as well as improved control and manageability of corporate data via the BlackBerry Balance option. The latest software gives them access to a new Print To Go app and an updated virtual keyboard with auto correction and predictive next word completion for the facilitation of quicker and more accurate typing.

“Building on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet’s proven web browsing, multimedia and multitasking strengths, the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 introduces a range of new communications and productivity enhancements as well as expanded app and content support,” explained David J. Smith, SVP Mobile Computing, RIM.

The company states that the refreshed software would provide enhanced web browsing capabilities along with the benefits of the BlackBerry Bridge app. This tool enables a Bluetooth connection between the tablet and the applications on the BlackBerry smartphone, so that content can be viewed on a larger display screen. Additionally, RIM slate owners can employ a unified inbox that collects all the messages from social networking websites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, in a single place.

The BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 software update can now be downloaded for free.
