The LG Optimus 3D Cube was recently announced ahead of the Mobile World Congress which will be held later this month. It is however not confirmed whether this is indeed a successor to the original LG Optimus 3D, however it does seem like an enhanced version of the predecessor device.

Just a few weeks ago, some leaked pictures of the LG CX2 had made their way to the web which gave rise to speculations that suggested it was the sequel to the LG Optimus 3D. Coming back to the 3D Cube, it claims to be one amongst the slimmest and lightest 3D smartphones, with a profile measuring just 9.6mm thin.

This LG mobile device comes equipped with a 4.3-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display featuring a wide viewing angle and operates on a 1.2GHz dual core processor. With measurements that read 126.8mm x 67.4mm x 9.6mm, it tips the scales at 148g. The sleek looking handset is fueled by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile platform and offers users 16GB of internal storage space.

Interestingly, unlike most of the other smartphones that feature a lower quality secondary camera as compared to their main ones, this fresh device boasts of a 5MP rear facing as well as a 5MP front facing snapper. Running on a 1,520mAh battery, it comes integrated with support for NFC technology that is compatible with LG Tag+ stickers which are capable of altering the smartphone’s settings when swiped.

The LG Optimus 3D Cube is set to be showcased at the Mobile World Congress which will be held in Barcelona between February 27 and March 1. It is expected to release early March in Korea via SK Telecom.

Update: As Engadget reveals, the LG Optimus 3D Cube will foray into Europe dubbed as the Optimus 3D Max and is touted to unveil in the country with a couple of changes as far as its specifications are concerned.
