BlackBerry rushes to announce BBM for Android and iOS, software around the corner?

It’s no secret that the BlackBerry Messenger will soon be out for Android and iOS owners alike, but recent developments have the Waterloo-based company revealing the service anytime now. It so happens that the Canadian website for BlackBerry flaunted a banner reading ‘BBM for Android and iPhone is here,’ although the domain was immediately pulled down.

Seen on this page was a link which is claimed to have been inactive, that sanctioned installing the service for other platforms. On scrolling down, it seems that a few attributes not forming a part of the first rollout, had been listed out, as pointed out by a post on Engadget.

BBM For Android iPhone

The list of absent features comprised of BlackBerry Messenger Voice chat that had entered through the messenger’s version 7, and BBM Video, which doesn’t really comes as a surprise. But the aforementioned article has also divulged that these could be expected to pop up for both platforms sometime this fall.

Instead, Android and iOS loyalists can watch out for the basic features like chatting with friends and folks in real-time, while also holding the ability to create groups of up to 30 members. The service’s voice note attribute could’ve given it an edge over the Whatsapp utility, but the latter beat the BB messenger to it by rolling out an update with similar qualities, earlier this month.

As of now, there’s no indication as to when will the company restore the page’s content, but keep trying this link – http://ca.blackberry.com/bbm.html– until the banner reappears or wait for a word from us.

Incoming BBM features:

– Ability to have cross-platform conversations in real-time
– Option to trade voice notes
– Choice to create groups with up to 30 members
