Screenshots of Samsung Galaxy Gear companion app validate NFC support

Even though the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch has already been confirmed by the company itself, there was little revealed concerning the wearable device then. This naturally comes across as strange, bearing in mind the slew of rumors that generally precede Samsung devices.

Nevertheless, a couple of screenshots apparently belonging to the accessory’s companion app known as the Gear manager have trickled out. It may now be safe to say that the device can be paired to an Android smartphone with the help of NFC support, thanks to the details spilled out through the first picture.

The image on the right hand side goes on to agree with previous rumors which had the device flashing SM-V700 as its model number. Apart from this, the interface shows off the inclusion of tools such as Clocks and My Apps. What has caught our attention is the ‘Find my watch’ icon which could be a clear indication of GPS integration.

We would’ve accepted this piece of news as any other rumor, had it not been @evleaks which has shouldered the responsibility of delivering these images. Even so, the Twitter account has little information to spill besides the snapshots. There are still many missing pieces to this puzzle which we believe will finally be revealed on September 4, alongside the Note 3.

The Galaxy Gear smart watch’s appearance has also been a huge mystery and while Sony appears to be helpless in containing the Xperia Z1 from leaking, we really hope the South Korean manufacturer lets us in on more grabs as well.
