AT&T to launch new data plans for smartphones and tablets on January 22

Those residing in the U.S. and who subscribe to AT&T could look forward to certain changes in the operation of their portable devices as the network carrier has disclosed its new data plans that are scheduled to launch on January 22. The new smartphone and tablet plans have been chalked out for 300MB, 3GB and 5GB of data.

The smartphone schemes include the AT&T Data Plus which will give users access to 300MB of data storage for a price of $20. The AT&T Data Pro plan comes in two versions; the first one would allow 3GB for $30 while the second scheme offers 5GB capacity for a cost of $50 and this would come along with the mobile hotspot or tethering capability.

“Customers are using more data than ever before. Our new plans are driven by this increasing demand in a highly competitive environment, and continue to deliver a great value to customers, especially as we continue our 4G LTE deployment,” stated, David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

The AT&T DataConnect tablet plans will give customers access to 3GB and 5GB of data for prices of $30 and $50, respectively. Smartphone subscribers who wish to gain access to more data would have to pay $10 for every additional 1GB. Current AT&T customers have an option of retaining their existing plans or changing them to the new, upcoming ones.

AT&T’s new data plans for smartphones and tablets will be put into effect on January 22, 2012.
